Privacy Policy for Text Tools

Text Tools collects no personal data. Nothing you type or paste ever leaves your device.

The short version

Text Tools is an offline utility. It has no accounts, no servers and no internet access. Everything you do in the app happens on your phone and stays there.

What the app collects

Nothing. The app does not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal information, and it never asks you for any. Specifically, it does not collect:

  • your name, email address, phone number or any other contact detail;
  • your location;
  • your contacts, photos, files or messages;
  • device identifiers, an advertising ID, or any analytics or usage data;
  • crash reports.

What stays on your device

So that you do not lose your work, the app saves the following in its own private storage area, which no other app on your phone can read:

  • the text currently in the editor;
  • the last five texts, if you leave that setting switched on;
  • your settings: reading speed, the monospace font toggle, and whether to keep recent texts.

This information is never uploaded anywhere. You can clear the recent list at any time from Settings, and everything the app has saved is deleted when you uninstall it. Android's cloud backup is switched off for this app, so its data is not copied to your Google account either.

Internet access

The app does not request the INTERNET permission from Android. It is therefore incapable of making a network connection of any kind, whether or not it wanted to. You can confirm this yourself: Android lists an app's permissions under Settings › Apps › Text Tools › Permissions.

Third-party services

Text Tools contains no advertising, no analytics, no crash reporting and no social media integration. It includes no third-party software development kit that collects data. The app is built with Google's own AndroidX and Jetpack Compose libraries, which run entirely on your device and send nothing anywhere.

Permissions

The app declares no Android permissions at all. Vibration feedback uses the system haptics API, which needs no permission.

Other apps

Two features hand information to another app you choose, at the moment you choose it:

  • Copy puts your text on the system clipboard, so you can paste it wherever you like.
  • Share opens Android's share sheet and passes the text to the app you pick.

Once your text reaches another app, that app's own privacy policy applies to it. The same is true of the Play Store and web browser that the About screen can open.

Children

The app is not directed at children, and because it collects no data at all, it collects nothing from anyone of any age.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this same address with a new effective date. Because the app collects nothing, any change is likely to be a clarification rather than a change to what happens to your data.
